Moerlein Lager House Commissions Local Artist for Design of Three New Murals

The Moerlein Lager House will be paying tribute with a toast to local artist Jim Effler for his work on designing three new murals that celebrate Cincinnati’s Grand Brewing Traditions on Saturday April 10th at 1PM.

Artist Jim Effler describes the vibrant designs as, “Pulling from the many beer labels, posters, and murals that I have painted over the years. These images represent the history of brewing in Cincinnati.”

The three murals are located on large frames facing Joe Nuxhall Way. They include features of the Cincinnati's riverfront, which was essential to the Queen City's growth and economy from the beginning; a premier brewery in the 1800’s that being the Christian Moerlein brewery and all coming together with people celebrating and drinking a beer in the Grand Moerlein Beer Garden.

“These images represent our brewing soul and are just so Cincinnati”, stated Greg Hardman Managing Member of the Moerlein Lager House. “I’ve had a long relationship with artist Jim Effler and his work and are delighted to have worked with him in creating these murals”, continued Hardman.

Artist Jim Effler will be signing his new book "25 Years of Bockfest Posters" and a variety of previous and current posters at the Moerlein Lager House from 11AM-3PM during the celebration. Pandemic protocols will be practiced during the celebration including at the celebratory toast. Everyone will be offered a safe social distancing session to meet the artist as well.=

For those wanting to extend the celebration that day, the Moerlein Lager House will also be offering its weekly weekend brunch from 11am-3pm.  Reservations can be made online at or by calling 513-421-2337.
